The work technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with IsO, also take part in the work. It is a seasonal crop and highly perishable. Fruits picked at the proper stage of maturity can be kept in the fresh state for hardly a week under normal conditions. It is therefore necessary that fruits bekeptunderproper conditions toprolong their lifeforfresh consumption or processing. Some guidelines for storage of the more usual varieties of mangoes are given in this International Standard. It is hoped that these guidelines will prove helpful in increasing shelf-life and in preventing wastage.
